New service improves RRV safety


A new service that improves rail plant safety and productivity has been launched at a conference in Glasgow.

James Fisher Prolec, an industry-leader in machine productivity and safety systems, has worked together with civil engineering technology specialist Stobart Rail & Civils to develop its new I-Systems ALO service to uplift the safety and productivity of rail-road vehicle (RRV) operations.

As part of the companies’ joint-vision to ensure that all operators return home safely from work, the service improves off-track plant safety and productivity, delivering reliable protection for operations close to live railway lines.

Combining two widely-trusted technologies – excavator hazard mitigation and 360° camera technology – the I-Systems ALO service restricts unsafe plant movements to protect operators, infrastructure and the passing public.

Drawing on JF Prolec’s advanced virtual wall technology, the intuitive boundary enforcement solution allows ALO co-ordinators to plot onsite hazards with I-Marker units, enabling safe working environments to be established quickly and easily. This not only minimises operator input for enhanced safety, but also reduces set-up time for increased productivity.

The new I-Systems ALO service was showcased for the first time at the Rail: North of the Border Conference 2020 in Glasgow on 5 March. During the event, the team ran live demonstrations and Q&A sessions to convey the technology’s unique capability.
