Work over Easter 2021 at Warrington Bank Quay station, during which an old bridge that carried two railway tracks on Platform 1 was removed and a new one lifted into place, is the subject of a time-lapse video released by Network Rail.

A footbridge outside the station was also upgraded and a disused bridge span was filled in.

Phil James, Network Rail.

Phil James, director for Network Rail’s North West route, said: “I’d like to thank passengers for their patience while we carried out these essential railway upgrades in Warrington. This work will improve performance for passengers and freight and help to play its part in Britain building back better from the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Now our attention turns to the early May bank holiday, when more essential railway improvements will take place.

“Because of the amount of work being done, passengers are being urged to travel either side of the bank holiday on Friday 30 April and Tuesday 4 May.”

The remaining work at Warrington Bank Quay station will cause minimal disruption to passengers and is due to be finished by the end of April 2021.
