Train operator Avanti West Coast has launched a new ‘Feel Good Travel’ campaign, designed to highlight the effortless, enjoyable experience of rail travel. Turbo – the rollerblading turtle – is the star of the advertising campaign.

The Feel Good Travel campaign was launched in the same week the West Coast main line operator reintroduced extra services on its Manchester, West Midlands and North Wales routes.

Avanti West Coast’s TV advert features Turbo the rollerblading turtle.

It is hoped that, by encouraging people back to rail, the campaign will also help support the communities Avanti West Coast serves, including local businesses, and promote a more environmentally friendly travel choice.

Turbo stars in a 60 second television advert, whizzing around on his rollerblades. The majority of filming for the advert took place in an around Manchester, with a selection of rural shots in the village of Castleton.

The final scene shows one of Avanti West Coast’s Pendolinos crossing Twemlow Viaduct in Cheshire.

Kate Squires, Avanti West Coast.

Avanti West Coast marketing director Kate Squires said: “We really want to inject a feel good vibe when people think about travelling with us. That’s the purpose of this campaign.

“We’re incredibly excited to bring people back on-board and shout about all of the great reasons why it’s the best way to get around. This is the perfect way to do it.”

  1. ATTENTION KATE SQUIRES
Can anyone answer me this please?
As this advertisement is aimed at UK customers to UK Avanti’s West Coast Service why is Turbo called a Turtle? In the UK turtles live in water whereas Tortoises live on land. Turbo is therefore definitely a Tortoise. Otherwise a great ad.

  2. As a graphic designer ex-skateboarder who still cruises in everyday life, and what a TV advertisement sees as a work of art.THIS THING, for real tears me up LIKE LITTLE BIT.C… Thanks whoever is behind that whole animation and creation, for brighter my life up…

  3. Absolutely outstanding advert. All credit to the ad agency. Worth every penny that must have been paid for it. Music tremendous. Definitely makes you feel good.
