Network Rail says around 50% of Britain’s rail network will be open on strike days with a very limited service running on lines that will only be open for about 11 hours.
A deal for Go-Ahead has been agreed, worth about £647.7 million. But it is not over yet. The consortium comprising Australian bus operator Kinetic and highways and rail business Globalvia might yet face a rival bid from Kelsian, who asked shareholders to do nothing.
The regeneration of Bristol Temple Quarter has been given £95 million of government funding. The funding will focus on areas immediately around Bristol Temple Meads station and will unlock approximately 2,500 new homes by 2032, and support around 2,200 jobs.
The first of Avanti West Coast’s new fleet of trains, worth £350 million, has entered static testing at Hitachi Rail’s Newton Aycliffe factory. It is made from 10 trains and 13 5-carriage bi-mode trains.
HS2 archaeologists uncovered an Anglo-Saxon burial site in Wendover that is one of the biggest in Britain. The site contained 138 graves, with 141 inhumation burials and 5 cremation burials.
