An exciting year ahead of us

If 2021 was anything to go by, there shall be no stopping any of us over the next twelve months.

Last year may have had its share of difficulties, but it also had a range of incredible successes — including commitments to major projects. At the beginning of the year, there was a Plan for Rail: Great British Railways is an exciting glimpse at fresh ways of thinking, which is at once familiar and future-facing. HS2, meanwhile, made significant progress and as part of this it has signed off on a fleet of trains to be built and maintained here in the UK.

In Glasgow, COP26 put rail front and centre in the world’s eyes, not just as a better way to travel but one which constantly reinvents the way it works to be ever greener and more efficient.

And, of course, we looked out for one another. We banded together to help causes and people in need. When it came to charities such as Railway Children, or initiatives like White Ribbon, the rail industry truly stepped up.

In the Business Daily Group, we saw success beyond our expectations. From new offices and the launch of RBD Stride to the acquisition of Rail Alliance – which saw 830 new organisations joining the RBD family alongside a unique partnership with Achilles.

It goes to show that, regardless of what catches the headlines, nothing stops real progress for the good of everyone.

So with that in mind, let us continue – in whatever way we can – to move the industry another all-important step forward this year. And maybe, knowing the tenacity of our readers, a step or two more!

Let’s have a great 2022.

Conrad
