Goose makes nest and lays eggs inside York station

A goose has taken advantage of this quiet time on the railway by making a nest at York station. She has settled down in a flower bed INSIDE the station booking hall.

So far, she has laid a total of four eggs and spends most of her day sitting on them. She has also become a bit of a TV celebrity, appearing on local and national news programmes.

Such is the interest that LNER has set up a GooseCam on Twitter, so her ‘fans’ can keep an eye on her.

GooseCam from York station.

An LNER spokesperson said: “We are thrilled to see the return of the goose to York station. Interest from customers viewing our regular #GooseCam posts on social media continues to be incredible.

“We’re grateful to our customers for continuing to follow the advice to stay at home although we expect York station could soon become home to several more guests in the coming days.”

Although named Doris by local bus drivers – her male partner is Boris – LNER is requesting suggestions for names for Mother Goose through its social media channels… @LNER on Twitter or via Facebook or Instagram.
